Ottawa police are trying to determine how a woman in her 40s drowned in the Rideau River near downtown Ottawa.
Police were called to the river near Cobourg and St. Patrick Streets at about 1 p.m. Thursday.
When police arrived, they found a woman in her 40s struggling in the water. Attempts to rescue her failed.
Investigators are unsure how the woman ended up in the water. Her name has not been released.
