Wal-Mart has announced it will buy 13 former Target Canada stores, including two in Ottawa.
Former Target stores at both BayShore Shopping Centre and Billings Bridge will soon be converted into Wal-Marts. The American superstore also has plans to purchase Cornwall's distribution centre, a move that is expected to create about 1,000 jobs.
Wal-Mart Canada says it will spend about $165 million for the leases and properties and a further $185 million on renovations.
The $350-million plan is subject to court approval, as part of Target's exit from the Canadian market.
