In front of a hushed Pembroke courtroom Wednesday, the widow and father of Bryan Casey spoke about the impact the crash that claimed his life has had on their family and directed some statements directly at the woman convicted in his death.
As part of her victim impact statement, LeeEllen Carroll addressed Christy Natsis directly. "You killed a human being, how inhumane," she said.
"He [Casey] slammed on his brakes and veered away from you. Bryan Casey helped save your life. You're welcome."
Natsis was convicted in May of impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death in the March 2011 crash that killed Casey.
Natsis' SUV crossed over into Casey's lane on Hwy. 17 near Arnprior, slamming into his pick-up truck head on.
She told the judge "I am so deeply sorry" and that if she could change the outcome of what happened, she would.
Natsis will be sentenced Nov. 12.
