Ottawa's largest annual community fair gets underway in less than two weeks' time and organizers are banking on a full entertainment schedule to boost dwindling audiences.
SuperEx runs from Aug. 14-24 at Lansdowne Park. The exhibition has been a fixture in Ottawa for more than 100 years.
This year's SuperEx features 60 rides, hundreds of exhibits and shows, a major poker tournament, along with the second annual Capital Magic Festival.
Free concerts on the main stage include Kim Mitchell, Glass Tiger, post-grunge rockers Default, country singer Shane Yellowbird and comedy duo Bowser and Blue, among others.

Organizers hope to beat the trend of falling attendance in recent years, despite this summer's unpredictable weather.
"Last year the weather was our biggest enemy. Certainly with the summer we've had our fingers crossed that the weather will be better for 11 days, two weeks from now and hopefully we can even increase our attendance," said David Presley, President of SuperEx.
Admission passes cost $12 for adults and $7 for kids under 12. The ride-all-day pass is $35, but fans of SuperEx can save about $20 by purchasing an advance combined admission and ride-all-day pass before Aug. 14 for $29.95 including taxes.
