The Winnipeg Blue Bombers spoiled the debut of the Ottawa Redblacks. The Redblacks came out strong taking a 21-7 first quarter lead, Chevon Walker scoring 2 touchdowns for Ottawa. It would be a 16 point 4th quarter for Winnipeg that would be the difference.

Nic Grigsby ran for 3 touchdowns, including one in the final minutes of the game. Demond Washington also returned a 96 yard kick off return during the 4th quarter comeback. The Blue Bombers would take their first lead with under 3 minutes left in regulation going on to a 36-28 victory.

Despite the loss, the expansion Ottawa Redblacks made a statement, that they will be a team to contend with. The Redblacks home opener is July 18th.
