A 'suspicious' senior's death at the Peter D. Clark Long-Term Care Home in Centrepointe has been ruled a homicide, Ottawa's fifth this year.

Frank Moir, 88, was found dead around 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 21, and his death was immediately classified as suspicious. He suffered injuries to his face and head and was discovered in a shared bathroom in Willow House, which is on the ground floor of the centre.

No charges have yet been laid in relation to the incident.

Moir had been living at the city-owned nursing home for around two years, says his son, Paul Moir. Paul adds his father had advanced dementia, but was not aggressive.

Frank Moir's wife, Betty, also lived at the facility and died at the age of 84 last month. They were married for 60 years.

Police say they are continuing to gather forensic evidence and that the investigation is ongoing.
