Ottawa Police say a second suspect has been taken into custody in relation to the city's first homicide of the year.
A relative of Jagtar Gill, who was found dead in her Barrhaven home on Jan. 29, 2014 confirms to CTV News that the man arrested is Gill's husband, Bhupinderpal Gill.
Police said the arrest was made in the Barrhaven area.
Earlier this week police charged 34-year-old Gurpreet Ronald, a married mother of two, with first-degree murder. She lives meters away from Gill's house on Brambling Way in Barrhaven.
On Friday, police asked for the public's help after a bloody, metal bar was discovered in a wooded area off Cedarview Road.
Sources have told CTV Ottawa there is a possible connection between this bar and Gill's murder.
Gill's husband and 15-year-old daughter had been out buying a cake in celebrating of the couple's 17th wedding anniversary when they returned home to discover her body.
