Share

After some cold days and nights this past week, warmer weather is on the way.

Saturday morning in Ottawa could be slippery with some light freezing rain the forecast.

A freezing rain warning is in effect for the capital with patchy, light freezing rain beginning late Saturday morning, turning into freezing drizzle in the afternoon.

"Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery," Environment Canada warns. "Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions."

Friday's outlook is partly sunny with a high around -6 C and a low of -11 C overnight. After that, the temperature is expected to rise.

The forecast is calling for unseasonably warm weather this weekend and into next week. Saturday's forecast high is -2 C with freezing rain and freezing drizzle expected. That will be followed by periods of rain Sunday and Monday with highs around 5 C – about 10 degrees warmer than average for the end of December.
