TORONTO - A retired couple from the Ottawa area picked up a cheque for $11.5 million Thursday after winning a Lotto 6-49 jackpot.

Rene and Suzanne Longpre held the winning ticket in last Saturday's draw.

The Longpres say they will use some of the money to celebrate their upcoming wedding anniversary in Hawaii.

They say their 45th anniversary is in September and they are looking forward to enjoying it in style.

Rene Longpre, 68, said he forgot to bring his usual list of numbers when he went to buy the ticket.

"When I was buying my tickets for that draw, I had left my special numbers at home," he said. "So I just got Quick Pick numbers. Good thing I did -- those numbers won us the jackpot!"

The couple, who have two adult children, plan to set up trust funds for their three grandchildren, buy new homes for their sons and do some travelling.

"It was always a dream of mine to visit Hawaii," said Suzanne, 65.
