The National Capital Commission (NCC) and the City of Ottawa are consulting the public on a proposed pedestrian and cyclist crossing on Queen Elizabeth Drive at Fifth Avenue.

Consultations began this morning at the proposed site near the Rideau Canal.

The crossing would include a traffic light that would be activated by cyclists and pedestrians, as needed.

The NCC says that the nearby Lansdowne redevelopment will also increase the amount of traffic in the area, and the need for a safe crossing.

If approved, the crossing could be installed this summer.
