Ottawa police are investigating a report that a man tried to lure four young children onto an unmarked yellow school bus in the city's west end.

Police say the bus driver allegedly stopped at the corner of Lincoln Heights Road and Regina Street and repeatedly asked a group of four children to get on his bus just prior to 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say none of the children, who range in age from six to 10 years old, take a bus to school. Rather, they walk to and from class.

Police say an adult saw the incident and confronted the driver who immediately left the area.

The driver is described as a white male in his 40s. He was driving an older model school bus with no logos or company markings.

Police say the incident is similar to one that occurred on May 15 when a driver of an unmarked school bus tried to pick up two young girls in Orleans.

Police say the driver stopped at the corner of Charlemagne Boulevard and Martinoff Way, where the girls, aged nine and 14, were waiting for their school bus.

Police say the driver told the girls he was driving for three different schools that day, and asked them to get on. When the girls refused, the driver left the area.

The driver involved in that incident is described as a French-speaking male who is about 60 years old. He has a thin build, grey hair and one of his hands may be deformed.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 5944 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
