OTTAWA - The Ottawa Police Service is advising the public and local businesses about fraudulent solicitation that has been seen in Ottawa. Someone, claiming to be an employee of Crime Sense Magazine is calling local businesses and soliciting financial support or seeking advertisers for Crimesense Magazine or Police Magazine.
The owners of Crimesense Magazine have confirmed to Ottawa Police that they have no such program in place and are concerned that Ottawa businesses are being targeted.
Crimesense Magazine has placed an alert about this fraudulent solicitation on their website and also with the Better Business Bureau.
