The body found in an Osgoode field has been identified as belonging to 27-year-old Amy Paul of Ottawa. Paul was last seen on September 3rd and reported missing 6 days later.
The grisly discovery was made Tuesday morning in the field off Cabin Road.
“There's a call that came this morning at 9:15, approximately, from a citizen regarding a body that was found,” says Const. Chuck Benoit.
Police say the farmer was working in the field when he found the female body. It is unclear how long it’s been there.
Neighbours are shocked that something like this could happen on the quiet country road.
“I'm shaking because I find it hard to believe. I've been here 8 years and I've never seen anything around,” says one neighbour who did not want to be identified.
The major crimes unit and coroner were both investigating the scene. Police have yet to rule it a homicide.
“Until evidence confirms foul play, we're going to keep on investigating until anything is confirmed,” says Benoit.
There were some reports the body was either burned or decomposed.
“There is no status we're able to give on the mention of the body being burned. Right now they are still assessing all the details,” says Benoit.
Police will be creating a search grid to look for clues and evidence.
