An Ottawa police constable was acquitted of a 2014 drunk driving charge today.

The judge issued a stinging decision on the actions of the arresting officers.  Constable Marie Josee Seguin was stopped by RCMP, charged with impaired driving and failing to provide a breath test.

A judge ruled today the rights of constable Seguin were breached repeatedly as officers had no grounds to arrest, denying her access to a lawyer and the officers took poor notes.

Her lawyer Michael Edelson says the decisive acquittal should have an impact on charges constable Seguin still faces under the police act.
