Tourists are flocking to the capital ahead of the Royal visit on Thursday, with more than 10,000 hotel rooms booked.

Some hotels were booked months in advance and now hotels in Kanata, Orleans and Wakefield have no vacancy for the Canada Day long weekend.

"We're very excited because the hotel is completely sold out. Needless to say, we've had waiting lists for a very long time. People are still calling us even today saying: ‘One last glimpse, one last chance, do you have any cancellations?'" said Deneen Perrin, spokesperson for the Fairmont Chateau Laurier.

The Royals arrive in Ottawa on Thursday afternoon. It's a trip that will pour millions into Ottawa's economy, and give the city plenty of publicity.

Many tourists are already in town ahead of Prince William and Kate's arrival – and they're excited to get the chance to catch a glimpse of Royalty.

"I've been told by everybody to get a picture, so I have to get at least close enough to get a picture," tourist Phil Hall told CTV Ottawa.

"We got up at 1 o'clock in the morning and watched the wedding, so now we maybe get to catch a glimpse," added tourist Leslie Howard.

The Ottawa-Gatineau Hotel Association says the fact that Canada Day falls on a Friday also helps attract visitors.

"With Canada Day falling on a Friday, and with the Royal visit, Ottawa is essentially sold out," said Dick Brown, executive director of the Ottawa-Gatineau Hotel Association.

But while many hotels in the capital are booked, officials say cancellations could make it possible to find a last-minute room.

"If you haven't booked your hotel room, you should book it now because it's pretty much full downtown or in the whole region, but there are sometimes cancellations. So, I never want to say it's impossible, but we're as close to being sold out as is possible," said Jantine Van Kregten of Ottawa Tourism.

The Royal couple will be in Ottawa until Saturday.
