Jared Havelock spent Good Friday in his Barrhaven home hugging friends and looking back at photos of his 21 year old sister Madeleine.
"Maddie' was in a car crash last night which claimed her life and friend 22 year old Thomas Guerette.
Both students were on their way back to Ottawa from classes at Trent University in Peterborough.
'"Maddie had the greatest smile on earth", Jared told CTV Ottawa anchor Michael O'Byrne.
Jared said his sister turned 21 just over a week ago.
The crash happened on County Road 10 in Beckwith Township at around 8:30 pm just southwest of Ottawa.
The two Ottawa students were in a Honda Civic which collided with a GMC pick-up truck.
Another female passenger in the car suffered a major injury.
One of the occupants of the pick-up truck was also rushed to hospital with a serious injury.
