An Orleans woman was found slashed to death in her home just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 22, 2014.
A short time later Ottawa police arrested a suspect. CTV’s Catherine Lathem was there as the police arrested 18-year-old Christopher Gobin, who was hiding in a neighbour's back yard.
Sources tell CTV News, Gobin is the victim’s son, and he has been struggling with mental illness.
The victim was found at 634 St. Bruno St. in Orleans, a quiet street with large suburban homes. Police spent several hours this afternoon combing through back yards on St. Bruno before making the arrest just before 4 pm.
With a report from CTV's Catherine Lathem.
