Correctional officers protesting outside a Kingston prison say a new open-concept unit at the jail puts staff, inmates and the public at risk.
They demonstrated Wednesday outside the medium-security Collins Bay Institution.
Union spokesman Jason Godin says Collins Bay has had twice as many violent incidents with half the inmate population as the next most violent institution in Ontario.
The new unit begins accepting inmates this month.
