The coroner's inquest into the stabbing of an Ottawa inmate at a Kingston prison recommends the installation of security cameras in all common areas.

Donald Mongeon, 27, was serving a three-year sentence for armed robbery when he was found dead in his cell at the Collins Bay Penitentiary in 1999. Police have never arrested anyone in connection with Mongeon's death.

The Correctional Service of Canada has one year to respond to the 18 other recommendations made by the inquest.
