PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Joey West and Stephen Nosad each had a pair of assists as the Peterborough Petes beat the Belleville Bulls 4-1 Thursday in Ontario Hockey League play.

Peter Ceresnak, Nick Ritchie, Austin Watson and Matt Puempel scored for Peterborough (12-7-3). Dylan Corson got the only goal for the Bulls (13-8-0).

Ceresnak opened the scoring just two minutes into the game after some great work by West to recover the puck down low, work it out to the faceoff circle and slide it to Ceresnak at the point. His one-timer got by John Chartrand in the Belleville goal.

Ritchie scored the eventual winner early in the second and Watson widened the lead when he blocked a shot at the point and took off on a breakaway to put away his third short-handed goal of the season. Watson almost repeated the feat later in the period but was stopped by John Chartrand.

Puempel scored on a power play midway through the third and Corson spoiled Mike Morrison's shutout bid just 42 seconds later.

Ritchie, Nosad and Trevor Murphy from Peterborough and Malcolm Subban and Mack Lemmon from Belleville were named to Ontario's team for the World Under-17 Challenge, to be held in Winnipeg Dec. 28 to Jan. 4.
