Gatineau police are asking residents in Aylmer to check to see if they're missing a red gas can that may have been stolen and used by an arsonist who set fire to a century-old church.
During their initial investigation, police found a gas can near St-Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Aylmer. They also uncovered evidence the church was broken into.
Police say the gas can was purchased at Canadian Tire sometime since spring 2008.
Police say they've also identified a man they were searching for as a witness to the fire.
