Gatineau police are searching for six young men who may have witnessed events at a gas station in Aylmer that could help police in their investigation of a devastating fire at a century-old church.
Police say the men, who are between the ages of 16 and 20, were spotted at a Shell gas station on chemin Eardley between 12:30 and 1 a.m. on June 11.
Police are asking the youth or their parents to come forward to relay any information that could lead to an arrest in the case.
Investigators are also asking for the public's help to identify another witness after releasing a composite sketch on Tuesday of a man who may have seen the fire.
Police say the man was last seen in the parking lot of the church about 30 minutes before the fire started.
The man is described as between 35 and 45 years old. He is about five feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 250 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark baseball cap, jeans and a beige sweater.
The fire, which broke out just before 2 a.m. on June 11, destroyed St-Paul's Roman Catholic Church. Police found a gas can near the church along with evidence the church was broken into.
