Gatineau police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run that injured an elderly woman last summer.

Police say the incident happened on July 29 at the intersection of Boulevard de la Gappe and Rue de l'Alliance in the city's downtown.

The driver of a black Kia Sorento struck a 94-year-old pedestrian and drove away from the scene, police say.

Police had been renewing calls for public assistance in the investigation to locate the suspect vehicle.

Last week, police arrested a Gatineau man and charged him for failing to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm.

He appeared before a Gatineau courtroom before being released on conditions.
