An Ottawa teenager, Jean-Remy Ayoune, is in critical condition after he was struck by a car outside a high school Monday morning in the city's southwest end. It happened outside Franco Cité School on Smyth Road around 11:30 a.m. The 16-year-old is a student there. Ottawa paramedics say the teen lost consciousness after being hit and is now in critical condition with life-threatening head injuries.
The French School Board, the Conseil des Écoles Catholiques du Centre-Est, says it will have a counselling team on site for students who may need help.
Ottawa Police are investigating the incident.
