About 6,000 people braved the rain for the Ottawa Senators’ fan fest at the Canadian Tire Centre to help launch the 2013-14 season.
“I like watching them play hockey,” said one young fan.
“We went to go get balloons and we got our faces painted and we played a bunch of games,” said another.
The event featured a photo booth, equipment sale, autograph session and an intra-squad game.
“It was alright, guys were getting kind of tired, it's getting to that point in training camp but the guys played hard and it’s always fun to play against your teammates, gives you something to brag about afterwards,” said Captain Jason Spezza.
Sens fans say they’re looking forward to this season.
“I have high hopes so we'll see how they do but hopefully the new editions are going to make a big impact,” said Christine Aubrey.
The Senators first home game is on Oct. 17 against the New Jersey Devils.
