Philadelphia Flyers hockey superstar Claude Giroux slipped out the Ottawa Police station back door after spending the night in a jail cell for allegedly grabbing a police officer's buttocks.

Ottawa Police say no charges were laid.

Ottawa Police would not comment on his arrest.

According to reports, Giroux was arrested for repeatedly grabbing the male officer's buttocks.

He was arrested around 9 p.m. in the Byward Market on Canada Day.

A large group of reporters and cameras waited for a glimpse of Giroux at the police station but he left through another door.

Ottawa Police say seven people were arrested on Canada Day. 

All but one was for non-criminal offenses.

Giroux went to school in Orleans and spends much of his off-season in the capital.

He played junior hockey for the Gatineau Olympiques.
