A blind pedestrian who was hit by a school bus in Ottawa's east end has died.
Richard Beaupre, 50, suffered serious head injuries when he was struck by a bus while crossing the street at the intersection of Russell Road and Haig Drive just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Although Beaupre didn't have vital signs when paramedics arrived on the scene, emergency workers were able to revive the man.
The female driver of the school bus and three children on board were not injured in the collision.
Ottawa police say Beaupre's family has donated his organs in hope of helping others.
Neighbours say he was a kind man and very self-sufficient.
