Locals whose personal stories are an inspiration for our region and beyond are being honoured Saturday at the Amazing People Gala.
About 50 people have been profiled by CTV Ottawa’s Kimothy Walker since the spring of 2011, with stories ranging from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on one leg to outliving a heartbreaking medical diagnosis.
Two Amazing People of the Year will be named at the gala, as selected by an impartial panel of judges. CTV Ottawa viewers also cast thousands of votes for a Viewer’s Choice award.
The night will benefit Ottawa Valley charity SchoolBOX, which builds classrooms in Central America and has been featured in an Amazing People story of its own starring founder Tom Affleck.
Money raised by the gala will go towards building an entire school in Nicaragua.
The night is presented by CTV Ottawa, with Walker serving as the host. It starts with a VIP reception at 6 p.m., with the gala getting underway at 7 p.m.
