Claudia Cautillo joined CTV Ottawa as a general assignment reporter in 2011. Claudia is passionate about storytelling and reporting breaking news and current affairs.
As a reporter in the Capital, Claudia covers a range of stories that impact the people who call Ottawa home.
She has reported on everything from provincial and municipal elections, to extreme snowstorms, to fires and crime. Claudia loves meeting people from all different walks of life, and sharing their stories with others.
Among Claudia's reports are the events surrounding the deadly attack on Parliament Hill; a massive housing complex fire in Kingston, forcing the rescue of a crane operator who was stuck above the flames; and gun violence in Ottawa, including a Boxing Day shooting at the Tanger Outlets Mall.
Her work has also aired on CTV National News, CTV News Channel, and 580 CFRA News Talk Radio.
Claudia got her start in journalism as a print reporter for a community newspaper in Toronto, where she focused on city politics.
She then joined CTV News Channel where she worked as a chase producer and writer in one of the country’s biggest national newsrooms.
During her time there, Claudia honed her skills working on a variety of national and international stories, including the 2008 federal election, the 2011 tsunami and nuclear crisis in Japan, and U.S. President Obama’s inauguration.
Claudia has a curious nature and commitment to telling stories that are compelling and informative.
She is a graduate from Ryerson University’s School of Journalism.
Claudia is a classically trained pianist, and can speak French and Italian.
She loves exploring cities on foot and jumps at the chance to travel to new places. Thailand and Italy are among the favourite countries she has visited.
Claudia also enjoys staying active and spending time with family and friends.
