Michael Nishi is making the best of his opportunity to be the Ottawa 67's starter.

Nishi picked up his first Ontario Hockey League shutout on Friday as the 67's defeated the Peterborough Petes 2-0.

"This is great," said Nishi about the shutout, "but it's even better seeing our guys execute our game plan and win."

Ottawa's No. 1 goalie Petr Mrazek is representing the Czech Republic at the IIHF world junior hockey championship.

Shane Prince and Dalton Smith scored for Ottawa (22-9-5), who have now won four in a row and earned points in six straight games.

Petes (16-14-6) goalie Mike Morrison stopped 42 of 43 shots, picking up the games first star in a losing effort.

The second period was much of the same as Morrison stopped everything he faced.

After 40 minutes of play the shots were 35-15 Ottawa, yet the game was still scoreless.

Finally, with less than seven minutes to play in the third period, Prince circled out from behind the net and beat Morrison with a wrist shot to give Ottawa a 1-0 lead.
