Some relief for downtown commuters today.

Rideau Street is now reopen to traffic from Dalhousie Street and Chapel Street.

This section of the downtown road has been closed since June as part of a two-year, $16 million construction project that will improve water and sewer infrastructure, roads and sidewalks.

Intermittent lane closures on either side of the street will continue for the next couple of weeks, but at least one lane in both the eastbound and westbound direction will be open at all times. Sidewalks will also reopen allowing pedestrians to walk through the area.
