Bublé is back.
And he’s ready to party like its 2017.
Michael Bublé, the multi-platinum selling, multi-award winning international superstar has been named as the host of the 2017 Juno Awards in Ottawa – Canada’s biggest music party in Canada’s capital during Canada’s 150th birthday.
It will be Bublé’s second time hosting the Junos. He first took over as emcee at the 2013 awards show in Regina.
“I'm thrilled to be back hosting the Juno Awards from our nation's capital. We are going to be celebrating Canada's 150th birthday and I am hosting the biggest and best party of the year,” said Bublé in a pre-recorded statement played at a news conference in Ottawa on Tuesday.
Organizers are thrilled with the selection. Michael Bublé won a Canadian Screen Award for best Host following his performance in 2013. “You know Michael really does have a gift. He is a born entertainer and he's actually a very funny guy as well,” says Allan Reid, President and CEO of the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS). “So we're thrilled again to have him back."
Bublé is back in more ways than one. The singer is also bouncing back from vocal cord surgery, and just released a new studio album, “Nobody But Me” earlier this month.
In addition to naming the host, organizers made another announcement regarding the Junos and the birthday celebrations planned for the nation’s capital” Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson announced the creation of a one-time $30,000 fund to help showcase local talent leading up to the Junos. “Today I'm calling on all artists, local artists and promoters to submit their ideas,” said Watson. “Only with your creative genius will this be the great success that I think it should be. I look forward to the submissions and to seeing many up-and-coming artists performing throughout Ottawa in 2017."
The 2017 Juno Awards take place Sunday, April 2nd at Canadian Tire Centre. Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 5th through Ticketmaster.
