A retired Canada Post employee from Rockland, east of Ottawa, is the newest multi-millionaire after hitting the jackpot and winning $20,113,060.60 from the Nov. 16 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“I’m in shock, it’s hard to believe,” said winner Pierrette Levesque while claiming her prize in Toronto.
The winning ticket was sold at Grenon’s Independent Grocer on Laurier Street in Rockland. The owner, Roger Grenon, says no one has won that much money in the 13 years he has had the store.
“I think it’s great for our store, it’s great for the community, it shows people that it can happen anywhere if you buy your tickets,” Grenon said.
“That’s pretty neat,” said one man who buys all of his lottery tickets at the same store. “She’s pretty lucky, I’m hoping to win every time I buy a ticket.”
Many people in line to buy lottery tickets hope they will be lucky like Levesque too.
“It’s especially nice for a lady who’s in retirement age, she’s never going to have to worry the rest of her lifetime,” said one man.
Levesque says she’s going to take some time to figure out what to do with all of her winnings but plans on travelling to places like Paris, Germany and Spain in first class.
