OTTAWA -- A fundraising campaign by 36 Chambers ALC, with support from the Wu-Tang Clan, has turned into a giant cheque for the Ottawa Food Bank.

The "A Better Tomorrow" campaign started in mid-May, with a goal of raising money for the Ottawa Food Bank, the Ottawa Mission and CHEO.

The sale of custom "OttaWu" t-shirts featuring the Wu-Tang Clan's iconic W logo with the word "Ottawa" inside proved popular, raising $100,000 for the Ottawa Food Bank.

Thanks to the success of the campaign, 36 Chambers says it is extending it for one more week, so you still have a chance to get a t-shirt.

In addition to the shirts, the campaign also includes the "Protect Ya Hands" hand sanitizer in support of the Ottawa Mission Foundation and "The Saga Continues Bowl" from Pure Kitchen, the sale of which raises funds to feed front-line workers from CHEO.

The fundraising initiative was launced by 36 Chambers, of which Wu-Tang member RZA is a co-founder. The Wu-Tang Clan gave permission to 36 Chambers to use the Wu-Tang logo for the shirts.

In a statement to CTV News, Ottawa Food Bank CEO Michael Madiment said the campaign exceeded expectations.

"We’re thrilled about the support we’ve received from this initiative so far. It’s far exceeded our expectations," Maidment said. "We focus on squeezing as much value out out every dollar we receive, turning each $1 into $5 dollars of food. $100,000 will have an incredible impact on our community, especially as we expect food insecurity to grow in the coming months."

Correction:

A previous version of this article attributed the fundraising campaign to the Wu-Tang Clan and 36 Chambers ALC. The campaign is entirely a 36 Chambers initiative, but was given permission by the Wu-Tang Clan to make use of its logo.
