Would you spend $600 on a blender?

There's an old saying:  "you get what you pay for."

Turns out that's not always the case.

Consumer Reports tested more than 50 blenders ranging in price from $40 to $600 dollars.

The expensive products all performed well.

But some more affordable models worked just as well.

The blender recommended by Consumer Reports is the $90 KitchenAid - model number KSB565.

While it wasn't quite as good at puréeing as some other similar priced blenders -  it offers a glass container instead of plastic, five speeds, and sleek touchpad controls.
