Ontario's Ministry of Labour is investigating after a worker amputated part of his finger in a workplace accident Monday afternoon.

Paramedics say the 37-year-old male worker injured his hand while working on a backhoe engine just south of Barrhaven.

Part of the man's index finger was amputated and the tip of his middle finger was nearly cut off. The worker is currently in stable condition in hospital.
