A 43-year old woman was killed this morning when her car rolled into a ditch off a west Ottawa Road, submerged upside down in water for nearly 30 minutes.
Ottawa Police say the crash happened on the Upper Dwyer Hill Road, near March Road, at 8:15 this morning. The black Toyota Corolla plunged upside down into more than a metre of water. Rescuers could not reach the woman inside until the car was towed from the ditch and flipped back onto its wheels. She was not pulled from the vehicle until 8:50.
An Ornge air ambulance was called in to help rush the woman to Hospital. Paramedics say she left the scene without vital signs. She was pronounced dead later in hospital.
Upper Dwyer Hill Road remains closed between March Road and Carroll Side Road.
