Woman killed, five injured in Hwy. 138 crash
A woman is dead and five others, including two children, are injured following a fatal collision on Highway 138 in North Stormont Township.
Ontario provincial police say the crash happened when a southbound pick-up truck collided with a passenger vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. Police say it appears the truck was trying to pass a farm tractor that was travelling on the highway north of Tayside.
A woman who was a passenger in the northbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was airlifted to the Ottawa Hospital's Civic campus with not life-threatening injuries.
Two children were transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, also with not life-threatening injuries.
The male driver of the pick-up truck and his female passenger were also injured in the crash. They are being treated in hospital for not life-threatening injuries in Cornwall.
Names of the victims will not be released until next-of-kin are notified.
Police are continuing their investigation.
