A 57-year-old woman is in critical condition after sustaining serious head injuries when her car was hit by a tractor trailer truck on Highway 417 westbound Saturday morning.
The crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. near the Lees Avenue exit of Hwy. 417. The truck struck the woman's four-door sedan on its passenger side, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
Paramedic spokeswoman Deanna Scholfield said the driver of the truck was assessed on scene but refused further treatment.
The collision reduced Hwy. 417 westbound to one lane of traffic between the Vanier Parkway and the Nicholas Street exits for about two hours. The Vanier Parkway ramp was also closed.
Police are asking drivers to avoid the area as they continue their investigation.
