A woman is fighting for her life after a two-vehicle collision north of Renfrew Friday morning.

Renfrew OPP said a 2010 Ford Escape was travelling westbound on Storyland Road in Whitewater Region around 10:30 a.m. Friday when it entered the intersection with Chenaux Road and was hit by a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado.

A female passenger in the Escape suffered critical, life-threatening injuries, according to police. She was taken by paramedics to the Renfrew Victoria Hospital then airlifted to hospital in Ottawa.

The male driver of the Escape was taken by paramedics to Ottawa. A woman and infant passenger in the Silverado suffered minor injuries while that driver was uninjured.

OPP said they're investigating and a charge is pending under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. The intersection is closed and expected to re-open Friday evening.
