KINGSTON, Ont. -- Police say a woman in Kingston, Ont., was allegedly assaulted and threatened by her boyfriend while being held captive in a home over a 30-hour period this week.

They say officers rescued the "shaking, fearful" woman after she managed to contact relatives, who called police.

Investigators allege the woman's boyfriend became angry late Tuesday afternoon when he learned she had plans to go on a trip with a female friend.

It's alleged he attacked her and controlled her every move over the next 30 hours through violence and threats.

Police say the woman managed to send photos of her injuries to family, who live outside Ontario, on Wednesday evening and they contacted police.

A 35-year-old man is charged with assault, uttering threats and forcible confinement.
