Woman formally charged with first-degree murder in Ottawa’s first homicide of 2014
Gurpreet Ronald, 34, has been formally charged with first-degree murder after an investigation into Ottawa’s first homicide of 2014 .
Ronald appeared in an Ottawa courtroom Wednesday morning, accused of killing 43-year-old Jagtar Gill. Gill was found stabbed to death in her Barrhaven home on January 29.
Gill’s family members and friends filled the courtroom as proceedings took place. Those in attendance say support seemed to focus on Gill’s husband Bhupinderpal Gill. He is an OC Transpo driver who works with the woman now accused of killing his wife.
Ronald’s next court appearance is April 16.
