A woman is dead after a dump truck smashed into the car she was driving Wednesday morning on Highway 17 just west of Renfrew.
Ontario Provincial Police say the woman was travelling eastbound when the westbound truck slammed into the back of a transport truck and swung into the eastbound lanes.
Police say, unable to stop, the woman’s car and the truck collided. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The man driving the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Highway 17 is closed between Haley Station and Cobden while police investigate. Police say expect the closure and detours to be in place for most of the day.
