White poppy wreaths called a 'desecration'
The Ottawa anti-war group that has been promoting the wearing of white poppies as a sign of peace sparked outrage Thursday after laying two wreaths at the National War Memorial to commemorate Remembrance Day.
Members of "Voice of Women" laid the wreaths which were adorned with the controversial white poppies. After they were placed, a man who attended the ceremony removed the wreaths, calling them a "desecration."
Many veterans have spoken out against the white poppies and the Royal Canadian Legion is also considering taking legal action against the group for their use of the symbol.
