On Thanksgiving Monday, many employees will be grateful for the chance to spend a holiday without work – but that means closures at many services and businesses.

All banks, post offices and government offices will be closed Monday, including Ottawa City Hall, the provincial court on Elgin Street and seven other city service centres.

Ottawa's 311 contact centre will be open for urgent calls.

Garbage, green bin, yard waste and recycling pick-up for homes will not happen Monday, pushing all pick-ups back by a day.

The only pick-up that will happen on Thanksgiving is multi-residential garbage bin collection. Recycling for those buildings will also be delayed by a day next week.

OC Transpo will be operating on a Sunday schedule.

The Rideau Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while Bayshore, Place D'Orleans and St. Laurent shopping centres are closed.

LCBO and Beer Store locations will have their doors closed for the holiday as well.

All Ottawa Library services are closed for Thanksgiving, but many recreation facilities are open for swimming, skating and fitness classes.

The city says some exceptions may apply, so it's best to check with the facility.
