The cause of a million-dollar fire in Maniwaki is being blamed on an electrical fault that started in the basement.

The blaze destroyed four businesses and put 20 people out of work early Sunday morning.

"It's really sad for us," said hair salon owner Maude Paul who says she feels like she has lost everything.

Flames engulfed the building housing a tattoo parlor, pizzeria, skateboard shop, music store and Paul's hair salon around 1 a.m. Sunday.

It was a central spot located at the corner of Main and Commercial Streets. Now, what was once a place to hang out is a pile of rubble.

"When I see this now, it's just a like a major hole in our town," says Maniwaki resident Phil Commonda.
