OTTAWA -- O-Train service is back at normal speed through the transit tunnel near Rideau Station after a leaking water pipe caused delays.
In a message on Twitter just after 3 p.m., OC Transpo said, "we are aware of a water leak in the tunnel west of Rideau Station."
The transit service said service continued to operate as normal, but trains were travelling slower entering and leaving Rideau Station.
In a statement to CTV News Ottawa, Director of Transit Operations Troy Charter said a minor leak affecting a pipe that supplies water to the staff facilities in Rideau Station was discovered.
"The water to this pipe has been shut off, trains have returned to normal speeds, and crews are now investigating and making plans for repairs," said Charter.
Charter says service was not impacted along the Confederation Line, but trains travelled at reduced speeds upon entering and leaving the station while workers were present.
"Customers may have experienced slightly longer travel times of up to a few seconds during this time."
