Ottawa Police confirm a man accused of stealing $600,000 from a popular music festival is in custody after being arrested in Aruba.
Police had issued an arrest warrant for Nick Guindon-Vachon, the co-founder of the Escapade Music Festival in July. He’s suspected of stealing $600,000 in alcohol and ticket sales from the event.
Guindon-Vachon was seen at the Ottawa Stadium following the Escapade Music Festival around 5:15 a.m. July 2, according to police.
They said he was carrying a large box at the time and was seen getting into a white GMC Yukon, which they determined was a rental and was traced to the Pierre Elliott Trudeau airport in Montreal.
Montreal police checked for the 27-year-old suspect, but he was nowhere to be found.
Festival organizers said the missing money was meant to pay some of the artists performing at the festival.
Guindon-Vachon is expected to appear in court Wednesday and be charged with theft over 5 thousand dollars, as well as possession of stolen property over $5,000.
