One of Outaouais' signature tourist attractions may be derailed for the summer.

The Wakefield steam train was parked this week after a landslide was spotted near the train's tracks in Chelsea, Que.

Engineers were on site Thursday and are expected to deliver a report on the train track safety sometime next week.

The steam train's operator says it is costly and complicated to run the train and he fears a summer cancellation could lead to the end of the train's summer service for good.

The Wakefield steam train creates 100 mostly part-time jobs and is responsible for adding up to $10 million to the Outaouais economy.
