A celebration of Fete National turned ugly in Aylmer on Thursday night as a fight between several groups of young people broke out.
Dozens of bottles were thrown. One group ran to the parking lot and jumped in a car attempting to flee. Hundreds of people surrounded the car and began pounding on it.
Witnesses say the driver then ran directly into several people, narrowly missing others, including a police officer. Police say four people were injured. One of them required surgery on her mouth this afternoon.
Five people have been charged in the incident.
